We support the Kua‘aina Associates to produce three major events to inform, engage, inspire and celebrate the resurgence and resilience of Indigenous peoples and their traditional tattooing practices: 1) The Ancestral Ink: A Symposium Honoring Indigenous Tattoo Traditions, featuring Tattoo Practitioners and Panelists at the 2019 Santa Fe Indian Market; 2) A Symposium Honoring Indigenous Tattoo Traditions in Tewa Territory to bring together Indigenous tattoo practitioners from Hawai‘i, Aotearoa/New Zealand and North who are forerunners in the revival of traditional cultural practices; 3) An Ancestral Ink Community Forum in the Bay Area that will feature four female community-knowledge keepers who will share the history, tradition and revitalization of tattoo practices among Indigenous women.
